I am looking at swapping my diff.

It's on an MK Indy.

At the moment I have a 7 inch push type with drum brakes.

The 1 I have seen is a 7 inch bolt on shaft with disc brakes.

Is it an easy job to swap over or a complete nightmare and not worth the hassel ?

Also what sort of price should I expect to pay for a 3.36 bolt on diff with shafts,hubs,disc's and calipers?

A days work at most I would have said. You'll also need disc compatable rear uprights from MK to replace the drum ones that you currently have fitted. Not certain, but you may also need to change the handbrake cable or at least the cable ends to suit the caliper handbrake mechanism too.

From prices I've seen I'd expect to pay upwards of £150 for a 3.36 diff and more on top for the shafts, calipers and dics.

On the other hand, I have read that you can (easily) remove the bolt on flanges from a bolt on diff and simply use push in shafts with it - you'd need to confirm that though.

A 3:38 complete axle has got to be about £250 probably the most expensive you can buy save for the very rare 3:14.
If you have drum brakes then you will need disc brake adaptor plates to fit the calipers and you may need to do some modification of the diff carrier as the bolt on flanges are a little larger in diameter than the push ins

Thanks for the quick response guys.

I like the idea of being able to use the push in shaft thus keeping the drums.

The easier the better

would love a 3.14 but there so rare im not sure its worth waiting or just getting the 3.36 then changing if i find a 3.14.

3:38 is the 7" 3:36 is the 7 1/2" usually found on the Scorpio Granada
