hand brake cable

i'm fitting the hand brake cable and have cut off the rubber bit, the black plastic cone and the white plastic end, but am confused about how to attach the cable to the rear backplate should the nut secure it? if so how its on the wrong side of the backplate? Rescued attachment DSCF0034.JPG

looking at the pic, the clue is that nut and how the white plastic bit fits into the handy recesses on the back plate,

the nut would be on the wrong side cos you haven't taken it of the cable yet...

then again did you through away the - rubber bit, the black plastic cone and the white plastic end?

you can't get the nut off as it doesn't go past the ball on the end of the cable..... any other ideas?

It just sits in the hole in the picture and the tension when you connect the cable to the pads holds it all in place.

Pat...

And if you can still get access to the nut after installed it will allow some adjustment assuming you do not fit the cable with the nut screwed all the way down the threaded section.
