can you paint over powdercoat???

Iv had a search but can't find what im looking for.

If i have to do any welding to my already powder coated chassis i will obviosly have to rub back the powdercoating where i want to weld... will i be able to spray paint the newly welded on part with normal car spray paint and get a good blend with the powdercoating or might it have some sort of reaction and go all manky?

Also on a larger scale if i want to change the colour of my chassis can i paint over powdercoat or would i have to rub down the whole chassis

many thanks

I've never had a problem using plasti-kote satin black (matches my powder coat nicely). I thought the whole thing re powdercoat was that it was fairly inert... I suppose a reaction with some paints is possible...

yes you can paint over it but you need to sand ir first ,if it gets scrached on the way to the job from the powdercoaters the touch it up with matching paint my mate works at a powder coating place .burn it off and wire brush it thats how to remove it fast.
you could just buy some powder from ebay and redo the bit you welded with a heat gun.

perhaps powder coat wasn't the best option for you then. Paint will stick to it if you use a good plastic primer.

Think of the powdercoat as plastic, because that's what it is. If the paint will stick to plastic, it'll stick to the powdercoated area.
