Half decent Tin Top Wanted...

Not exactly locost related exactly, but my other half is after a new (well, better than her existing) tin-top. (not exactly locost related, but it does need to be fairly low cost...)

Has anyone out there got a large-ish estate or hatch they are looking to sell? We are looking at Mondao and Vectra's mainly around the £1k mark but anything is an option! It needs to be reasonably tidy but again, anything is an option and if you are around the Spalding area all the better. Might even be able to get out to see it tomorrow.

havent got anything for sale, but i can reccommed the vectra of about 2000/2001 for the money they seem to be holding up pretty well. i got a focus recently (hatch not estate) but that was around your budget and is pretty tidy too.

I can tell you where there is a "fixer upa" vectra estate.

Engine managment and abs lights are on.

Its a locost option if you get the spanners out

I had a '98 Vectra estate, and it was the biggest pile of steaming poo I have owned. It was such a money pit! It has put me off Vauxhalls forever!!!

Buy a nce reliable Honda....! I now have 2, and touch wood, neither have needed anything more than a service in more than 50,000 miles!

Thanks for the replys guys!

Wasa - I would like to say yes to that but we kind of need it running and ready to go and I understand engine management lights can be a tad expensive to fix.

twybrow - I have owned 3 Vectra's over the years and I only had 2 problems... 1 the engie management went on my V6 and the ECU turned half the engine off (fixed under warranty thankfully). 2 the rear end of my last 2 became so highly magnetic the old dears following me ran into me at high speed writing the cars off...
