vin numbers
hi all will dvla give me a chassis number over the phone or can a really make my own up if so is there a set lay out for them ( numbers,letters )
or do i just leave it blank on the sva forms

You can make your own up but all the DVLA offices interpret the rules differently. Leeds insist on them supplying one following inspection.

Remember, you are dealing with what used to be the unpopular kid at school who everbody hated. He is now trying to get his own back on the world.
In theory you can make up your own 17 digit chassis number, but accepting what they issue you with will make your like so much easier
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Don't send the SVA form in with no vin they'll send it back. sounds daft but in some respect it's the vin and eveything that's
attatched to it they are testing, first thing he checked on my sva.

just rang dvla
its a no go
they said need to put it in writing what i am doding and they will want to inspect
i said that normally comes later when registering he said they will still need to do it this way as i havent got a vin number
