Depressing coil problems

Anyone ever had any problems with ford mondeo v6 coil pack? Cooked four so far. Any advice as to coil dwell and alternatives?

What are you driving the coil pack with? IIRC dwell tends to be set around 4ms for Megasquirt.

My Clio V6 eats coils regularly. Alwyas keep one spare and a 7mm socket to swap them lol.

Renauly use to replace under warranty but most people now upgrade to Trophy ones or buy spares from Peugeot for half the price!

Hi,
I think this is the problem mike. I'm using an Autronic ECU which has built in coil drivers but not amplifiers. It uses external bosch amplifiers as recommended by autronic. I'm not sure whether dwell is set by the amplifiers or the coil drivers in the ECU but i'm not sure it is adjustable?

I'm guessing the dwell for the coil must be incorrect and it keeps getting cooked? Seems to happen at high revs.

It's getting rather depressing and i'm close to tearing it all out and fitting an emerald or dta but can't really afford

Anyone know any meaty aftermarket coil packs that might be better? Tell me more about 'trophy' Kriss?

Anyone any idea about ballast resistors? Am i correct in thinking they are used to protect a coil with low primary resistance. Anyone using the ford V6 coil on anyhting?
