Does paint colour affect insurance?
Not just on sevens, ar amture built cars but anything? If you were going to paint your own car what colours are best avoided to keep your premium
low?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Black cars used to cost more because the panels had to be better finished as you'd see imperfections. Not heard anything about insurance - seems
silly really.

I've worked in the motor insurance arena for many years and closely work with underwriting - can confirm definitely (at least for the companies
I work for - about 30) no effect. IN fact the companies I work for don't even ask unless you buy breakdown cover and that's only so
it's easier to spot you.

As I've never been asked the colour, I wouldn't think so. Statistically some colours are more prone to accidents though.
Interestingly enough there was an article on data mining, where computers are set up to go through data and search for related facts that may not seem
related to the human eye and ISTR that you were more likely to die in a car accident if you were born on a Tuesday!

I was asked the colour today getting some online quotes which made me think. I'm surprised they haven't found a correlation. Yellow =
boy racer. beige = old biddy. Black 4x4 = drug dealer. White Escort Cabriolet = Essex Girl.
