Race Wets in the Dry???

I have a set of unused Avon wets in my garage (they came with a Formula Vauxhall Lotus that I had years ago).

They've been stored properly and it seems a shame to see them go to waste.

So... have to ask - has anyone ever run them in the dry on a non-formula car (Se7en type)?

Not fussed about the wear rate (I assume they wouldn't last very long), but how would they grip in general use?

(PS - I know they are not Road Legal... just asking the question )

They will overheat on a TD and be useless in a short space of time, not sure how they'd fare on the road in all honesty. It would depend more on how you drove I guess...

if you don't want them any more get em on the bay of E or for sale section seem to make a reasonable amount, if full wets wouldnt be worth the cost of fitting just to reck them in a dry track day

If they overheat, they will be like driving on a slippery road. They wont hold grip for long, and just slide and rip themselves apart.

Best to keep themand use them on a wet november track day.

they should be great for five laps or so, then they will overheat and handle like a bag of shite.

o.k. for cheap trackday tyres

Does that mean they would be ideal for sprinting and hillclimbs?

Not unkown for circuit racers to use wets for the odd hillclimb.

These tyres are a few years old they will be pretty hard anyway, the softer the tyre the shorter the shelf life.
