Fuel Cap location....
Trying to make my mind up as to where to locate my fuel filler cap.... I have the option of mounting it on the rear panel vertically or horizontally
on the rear cover.
What do people recommend?
thanks

Horizontal so the fuel goes downhill if you run out on an uphill slope and have to fill up with a can

Having had it in both, upper panel NOT rear, I got so bored filling up one day i worked it out at 3L/min of filling rate and one sore arm
ATB Dan.
The less I worked, the more i liked it.

I've just made a new rear panel on my car and I'm going to fit the filler on the top deck corner

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

I believe for IVA, that if on top panel, it needs to be sloping so its not possible to get fuel in the passenger compartment. Would check this before
putting it on a flat top panel.

Anyone know if this is the case and that mounting it on a flat panel is a problem?
thanks

The IVA manual says
quote: Fuel tank filling points must not be located in the passenger compartment,
luggage compartment or within an engine compartment.
Now it comes down to interpretation but the flat panel on the top could easily be interpreted to be part of the luggage compartment and/or since there
is no firewall between them even part of the passenger compartment.
