Premade chassis
hi
im looking to start a locost project soon but cant weld atm, im looking to learn to weld but i think such an important part as the chassis will be
beyond my skills so am looking to buy a chassis prebuilt. where is best to get one? im looking at a balance between price, quality and adaptability
when it comes to engine and drivetrain options
thanks

get yourself a copy of "build yourself a sports car on a budget" from halfords etc you can get everything you need from saturn sports cars
including a chassis
Logic will get you from a A to B
Imagination will take you everywhere.

If you are looking just for the chassis and then plan on following the Haynes books, take a look at the Aries chassis:

the aries chassis is a very good chassis as i`ve got one but the problem is with them is picking the right seat as its very narrow i think the new
haynes is wider and the panels are not the same, it is a lot easier to get parts for the new haynes roadster, i would reccomend bying the new haynes
wich is made by saturn sport cars, mk indy and talon sports and a few other companies!

You certainly need to check whether you can get in it or not, some chassis are really quite small, thats why Im doing the haynes (I got the chassis
from Talon)
As some day it may happen that a victim must be found,
I've got a little list-- I've got a little list

And who never would be missed-- who never would be missed!

BTW... You should be looking at the Haynes Manual written by Chris Gibbs, and NOT the one by Ron Champion.
Rons book is based on an Escort Donor, and Chris's book is more up to date, and based on a sierra donor.
It will make a BIG difference to you when sourcing the donor parts!
Escorts are rare and scarce, as people are rebuilding them as classics rather than scrapping them, and thats if you can find one!
Sierras are getting more scarce, with only approx left 2000 on the road. However they still turn up as scrappers, and are a few left in the scrap
yards.
Have fun, and post plenty of pictures on here.
Dont be afraid to ask about anything on here.
Use the Source Luke! Oops.. Sorry I meant Use the Search, as most things have been done to death on here and are in the archives.
Finally welcome to the MadHouse!
