MK Indy Black RAL colour code?
Folks,
My bonnet came undone and managed to go for a wee scrape down the road yesterday! I'm fitting bigger catches and I'm also going to
re-spray the bonnet. I took the only code I have for MK Black (CP14682A) to the local paint guy but he didn't recognise it and wanted a RAL
number.
I *seem* to recall it was 0000, but I'm not sure . Can anyone confirmt this?
I'm sure it used to be p on their website but I don't see it now.
Thanks
Ali

Your best giving MK a ring, as I dont think the Ral numbers quoted on the old web site were all correct.
I'm sure I've got one, just don't know where I've put it

I did ring MK and they're not sure either! Philip will be back at 2:30pm, I was told to try him see if he knows.
Thanks

If you have no joy with MK, then most bodyshops are able to colour match very well. The only problem you could have is that even with the corect
colour, it could well look different to a gel coat finish.
I'm sure I've got one, just don't know where I've put it

Alister,
RAL Code for black was CP14682A. This is from old MK website, so in light of what MK Ninja says, better check first.

I was talking to Phil at MK about this. The CP RAL code is the Fibreglass RAL code - it is different from a paint RAL code, and means nothing to the
paint guy I'm using.
He has had a go at matching it and reckons RAL9005 is a close match. I now have a 1/2 a litre of it and I'm gonna start sanding / spraying
soon. If it doesn't match looks like I'll buy some BIG Honda stickers!
I'll let you know how I get on!
Thanks again for the help.

Just found this and I also need to know the colour code.
Did the RAL9005 match?

Im quite sure the RAL colours dont look quite right in gel coat. My body is Oxford blue (the car body that is!) but defo looks lighter compared to
true oxford blue paint.
Most bodyshop suppliers will have books and books of colour codes. Just take the bonnet along and match up. Careful with the light though - i was told
it is best to take outside and try at different angles etc. My local place will mix 2 pack colours into spray cans for about £7 a throw. Very handy
they are too. 2 tins of base and 1 of lacquer should see a beautiful shiny bonnet if you take time rubbing it first.

No it seems to match quite well. Certainly it' s a better match than the 'black' aeroscreen!
There is a little 'orange peel' but that's purely down to my spraying technique (or lack of), but it was sanded down and
doesn't look too bad.
From a colour point of view it's spot on.
