mental note, angry grinder content
Never use one that allows you to lock the trigger on while in a tight space. Angry grinder cup brush 1, left wrist/hand/flesh 0. Thank god I managed
to stop it with my hand, it was on its way up toward my head!

awww, bless
i've lost numerous shoes to the tool.
my best accomplishment was when a 12mm drill bit broke in the trailer ramp i was stood on while drilling. as the drill fell out of my hands, it pushed
the trigger lock on and proceeded to wrap the broken bit in the ankle of my boiler suit and merrily spin away (trying desperately to eat my leg) until
it wrapped the cable in the chuck and sheared it.
trigger locks are a blood stupid idea

ah thats nothing! set fire to my gentleman region with my grinder...
also, had my grinder plugged into an extention, switched on, and nothing happened. i took one hand off the grinder to check the extention, there was a
dodgy connection, the grinder sprang into life, spun up, i dropped it and if missed my foot by an inch good times

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

It doesnt look much, but its surprising how much they sting!! lol
Ive had a few "Brushes" myself. I never use trigger lock on the drill unless its in a vice (For the nibbler attachment etc).
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

evil things grinders are. i managed to grind through a welding glove into my hand last year. looks like you got away with just a bit of a stinger
there. always good to share these accidents as it reminds us all how dangerous our beloved tools are

Be careful in the garage chaps!
Grinders in particular are VERY nasty bits of kit if it goes wrong!

To get one back (and to make you feel a little better), I burned my grinder out tonight.... Looks like I'll have to get a more powerful one....!

IF any of you need reminding of how dangerous these machines can be then just look at the post on the scottish elise forum ( I am not a member but do
browse from time to time).
Pretty scary stuff

yeah set fire to myself twice and once it bounced of the car and grabbed my sweetshirt and wrapped it around itself, got a burn like a carpet burn
from the friction
One did almost explode when the motors commuter blew and threw hot carbon in my face
Many disks exploding over the years when they have got pinch while making a cut
Very dangerous things really
I think the most common mistake is to remove the handgrip to make it easier to get into tight spaces but then it can be difficult to control or even
hold onto if it snatches. That and removing the disk guard, which I'm very guilty for doing.
Never grind with nothing over your arms just wearing a t-shirt as your just asking for trouble

I use a 5" grinder with a rear and side handle and also a safety catch so you have to press a button before you can pull the trigger to start
it. I still have one where you hold the body and side handle fitted with a backing pad and fibre disc and not used for cutting. I was a fettler for
years and saw some real bad accidents with grinders and cutters including a workmate losing most of his thumb so I always have a health respect for
them although I did manage to put a 1/8" drill through my pinky finger with a rechargeable so it's not just grinders that are out to get
us.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
