Peugeot power....

I plan to use Ford for the suspension/steering etc but i want to use a peugeot engine and LDV box....

Has anyone tried this combo???

Not tried it myself but I've sold a couple of LT77 gearboxes on ebay..!

Al the XU blocks are basically the same....

I'm go to use the standard 1.9 to start with, 128BHP should be pokey enough...

In the future i want to fi the 2ltr turbo engine... I'v played with these engines quite alot in my 205...

The last engine was 340BHP...

Do you mean the gearbox? The XU9 engine has an alloy block and head and is quite light.

340bhp? That should do it!! Would the LT77 be up to it or would be better off finding a tougher box and making it fit the XU block?

The UX9 8 valve is cast block, some of the MI's were alloy blocks....


Not a fan of the MI's.... I have rebuilt quite a few of them....

I think getting the traction in a 7 would be a problem... I'll maybe leave it standardish.....

The gearbox would probably be ok, i figure it would break traction before the gearbox....

Why buy PPC when you can get it all here?

Not many STD xu's make the quoted power though, 115-120 bhp is a good one.

The 1.9 is easyish to get more ponies out of... maybe try that first n see how i get on....

The standard 2ltr produces 150 BHP.... so a few mild tweeks just to liven it up a wee bit.....

I guessed that 200bhp would be about right for my car so fitted the PugV6. It still spins the whhels in all but 5th so perhaps over 200 would be a tad overkill......but you can never have too much power...

The XU9 has a cast aluminium alloy block, as do all of the Mi16 engines. The block is so light you can pick it up with one hand with ease. The XU10 engine in the Pug 306 etc. had the iron block.

Are you maybe thinking of the diesel XUD9? That does have an iron block.

I take it that was the later D9 V6 with the 210 bhp???

I have a coop with the V6, torquey things...

We had a 1.9 from 2 years old, very quick, never made more than 117 on the rollers, operator said it was a particularly good lump to make that.

I then had about 3 in a row all of which made less and a tuned one in a 405 that made 140, I cracked the block on that pig!

This was all in the 90s so they werent tired old things back then

It's the ES9J4 but with tubular fannimoulds, no silencing to speak of and a slightly tweaked inlet. And a bit higher fuel pressure if that makes any difference!!

Oh by now there some heavy breathgers out ther..... I want to use Peugeot power.... I have been in and around them for years. sticking to what i know i s'pose....

I did think of TU, lighter and are wee screamers. I have an XS, 1360 which will take on a 16 GTi with no probs. Although this has had a "few £'s" spent on the engine...

Seemingly cam's n injectors from a V6 Clio livens them up no end.....

I had a 205 XS and it would spank my chums in their XR2s, XR3is, Golf GTis etc.....Probably because it weighed the same as a Wagon Wheel wrapper.

Wagon whell wrapper?? With or without the price label... ha!!

They rev quicker that the XU's... mine is a TU3 bottom end, TU24 big valve head, polished and ported head n inlet mani, Kent highlift/long duration, 40's and 4 branch....

Cant beat the flutter and Barrrrrrp of the 40's.....
