Linux mint help - doesn;t aut detect SD card

I know some of you are pretty nifty on linux, so please give me a clue!

I have an SD card reader in my laptop that doesn't auto mount the SD card when I insert it (running mint 12)

If I switch off and switch on again it sometimes auto mounts it when I log on... so i know it works and can detect it.

Plain english help appreciated!

Wasn't a problem with Mint 11 check the Mint forums however it might be worth checking in Synaptic Package Manager if mountall is installed.
