UK approval (SVA) docs for re-approval in Spain??

Guys,

I have not yet given up trying to get approval and registration for my Locost in Spain. I'm now exploring what looks like a new possibility.

Among the docs I need, there's one I don't have, which is an approval certificate. Normally, these are provided by the car manufacturer since they hold the "type approval" (not sure about the name in English) for each of the models they sell. Since our cars follow a different scheme (SVA), I need to provide the equivalent document, that is, anything official that says my particular car is approved.

Does that exist as a document? Do you guys keep it after SVA or does the DVLA exchange it for the registration document once the car is registered? The reason I'm asking is because I've bought 2 Locosts in the past (that's the Isonblade and my current one) but neither Jon nor Tom gave me anything having to do with approval.

So, how does the whole thing work? I assume there must be some first MOT related to SVA as well? (There's one here.) What documents are involved in the proccess and who keeps them?

Basically, I would like to get as many documents as I can in order to save me trouble (I'll be trying approval somewhere in the north of Spain, quite far from where I live). I'm thinking maybe my best bet would be to give the DVLA a call and just ask for advice and see if there's anything (certificate?) they could provide. What do you think? If I'm to call the DVLA, any background or knowledge on the documents I'm after would be really good to have, especially since my English over the phone is crap and I can hardly understand technical terms

Many thanks.

MAC

The ministry approval certificate is kept by the vehicle registration office. It sounds like this is what you mean Alez. I think it is kept at Swansea or a record of it. If you found the registration office where the car was registered they may send you a copy.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

They will provide a copy, for a fee - I remember seeing it in the list of fees on the back of an application form!

David

Hi Alez

Is the car still registered in the uk?

If so you should be getting a new V5C log book for it very soon, this should list the type approval number, which on mine is the same number as my MAC ( i took a copy )

In the little booklet that came with my reg doc is says

" The new certificate has been developed to comply with european directive 199/37/EC. The directive requires member states to introduce a common format for registration certificates, which will help with the identification of vehicles in international traffic and be accepted for re-registration throughout the european union "

So once you get your V5C it should be easy ????

Ah yes the car is UK registered currently, so I'll just ask for the MAC and V5C and whatever else they can provide

it says on all v5s that it can only be a UK address on the form, to give it a foreign address you have to export it properly. good luck anyway, Alez
