Exhaust Tailpipe Angle !!!!

Hello Locoster's

Next question about exhaust pipe install.

Thanks to Mark Chandler on this here forum, I now have a silencer at the correct angle that fits in the side pod.
I now have to cut the side pod for the tail pipe to guide the hot gasses away from the car.

The question is :-

If it comes out pointing toward the ground at say 45 deg's, will there be less
sound for Mr IVA than if it comes out level with the ground and if so, will it be vastly different?

Any suggestions will be greatly received.

Len.

Some difference as it won't point directly at the meter but sound reflects and the meter is close, sound will reduce by the square of the distance.

I angled mine downwards, with the same thought process. and imho it did not make any difference
I would actualy say i thouight it was louder, as all the gas had somthing to bounce off, ie the road

My zetec powered fury at Bedford autodrome failed the noise test and this the tailpipe angled towards the floor, the testers reackoned the sound was bouncing off the ground and tripping the meter out, they let me drive it part on the grass and this passed . Experiment passed .
Just a thought.

Noise is killed by bends, pointing at the ground will not make a huge difference, pointing under the car does however so I would angle where it looks best.

If for IVA you think it is still overly noisy then make up an insert baffle and discard afterwards, it can be held in by a little screw out of site.

Something like Motorcycle EXHAUST BAFFLE Bike Race Can Noise DB KILLER | eBay

Search Ebay for can baffle, plenty of choices

Regards Mark
