Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

Not such a bargain after all. One of my batteries is DOA and dewalt warranty apparently doesn't cover batteries. Ah well.

It's up to Screwfix to sort it, not Dewalt. They are required to fix the problem or refund the cost. Just take it back to them. OK, you
won't have a drill, but you'll have your money back.

+1, battery warrantee is irrelevant, sales of goods act is clear if the battery goes inside 6 months they have to prove you damaged it.
Screwfix will just refund you.

They said they would refund me but then I'd have no drill. Better to have a drill with 1 battery for 40quid then no drill at all?

Try to get them to offer a part refund or some sort of freebee as compensation.
Always worth a try.
Still the drill with on battery is easily worth £40
