Anyone Used MX5/RX8 Uprights?

Had some kicking around for a while and i'm having such grief trying to design uprights I figured I might as well use them.
They're proper double wishbone uprights with both balljoints pointing down into the upright (I don't like how most of the time you guys have car hanging off an upside-down balljoint and the nut on top, even if it works fine)

Anyway if anyone has used or sen these kind of uprights use i'd love to see some photos.

Only half decent photo i could find. they're pretty heavy unfortunately

Most manufacturers now offer kits based on the MX5.

The Midlana book uses the mx5 hubs all round.

Are the Rx8's the same as Mx5's ?

isn 't it the older MX5 though wit the ball joint that bolts in from below?
That's all i could find from searching the forum

these type

I think they're similar at least, the RX8 being a bit stronger so used as a upgrade on the 2006 onwards MX5

What on earth are you on about! Nearly every car on the road has a lower ball joint that that is underneath the upright. What your on about would be the exception to normal practice and severely weaken the upright without adding excess material or limit range of steering movement.

The upright you have shown looks massively over weight and strong enough for a 1600kg car not a light weight 7 style vehicle. The lower ball joints used on most 7's were designed for cars more than double the weight of a 7 in the same orientation and range of motion. history has shown us many times over that it is always the wishbone on a 7 that will fail way way way before any of the ball joints people are using.

Anything With Tits or Wheels Will cost you MONEY!!

yes, but they tend to be mcpherson strut, so the balljoint isn't being pulled apart unlike when you just whack a shock onto the bottom wishbone.

It's a standard Mazda item, with the balljoint pointing down into the tapered hole on the bottom, and it seems to work for them?

I know they are reliable still when used that way, just curious if they've been done with these uprights before. I don't expect my car to be quite as light as the traditional kit car, probably 8-900kg.
Just trying to engineer as properly as possible. They aren't light i know but then i don't know what kind of weights uprights tend to be either
