Please do not tell me you would use exhaust tube in a roll bar. If you are prepared to do that why fit one at all???

exhaust steel was an option just to get the apprearance right. i have some steel to sleeve inside it which is 4mm thick so it would have enough
strength the exhaust steel was just so it looked the same if you get what i mean?

when I extended my Caterham roll cage, I had inserts made of mild steel, that were the inner measurement and outer, so gave me inner strength, plus
the outside , they were an interference fit, and araldited and c pinned

good thinking steve, i have access to a metal lathe so if i can find a fairly heavy piece of 51mm steel then i could machine the ends down to sleeve
the ends. anyone help me out with a heavy piece of 51mm steel pipe?

If it's just a trim piece you can adjust the diameter of a piece of tube that is close by slitting it lengthways and cutting out or inserting a
bit as necessary.
You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

All I can find is 50 x 1.5mm ERW tube and 48.3 x 3mm hollow section. I can chop a bit of those off and send them if either are any good?
Failing that I have some 2" EN3B bright round bar which is 50.8mm. I can bore a piece of that out for you if you like?
