WTD Packaging foam

I am building a "flight case" for my new quadcopter so i can carry it about a bit easier. I have a nice big tactical rucksack but need to make some foam inserts...

Cant believe how much suitable foam costs!!

I just wonder if anyone here has access to any packaging materials?

I need to make a block that is 600mm*350mm*230mm. I expect it would be easier to cut the shapes if I laminate it myself from sheets that are thinner.

Anyone have such foam knocking about? happy to pay for it.

Dunelm Mill would be my first port of call, they do foam for chairs and settees etc that would do the job. Although it's usually dirty white or blue rather than the sparkly black that is normally used.

I bought a sheet for the top of an ottoman that only cost a pound or so, although it was quite a while ago.

(Then again, a quick check shows they got expensive, the same sort of foam can be got on Ebay for a lot less).

Larg blocks of upholstery foam are reasonably cheap. Ideally I want the really firm stuff so I can cut nice slots in it for all the bits and pieces. Might see if any of th eBay suppliers can do that kinda foam.

How about cellex insulation type stuff, or a bin bag expanding foam Mold?

As a last resort I might try that.. it has a tendency to fall appart at the edges though so all the things in the box would constantly be covered in dandruff
