GTS newsletter

So far I've received the newsletter twice. This confuses me.

Firstly, I never signed up to receive a newsletter, leaving it firmly in the realms of unsolicited mail.

Secondly, if I want to receive a newsletter from anyone, i'm perfectly capable of signing up for one, as i'm sure most people using the internet are.

I don't mind receiving the news letter, but I do believe that to keep things right GTS should ask if it's ok to send them, and give the opportunity to unsuscribe.

my 2 pence worth

I was happy to receive the newsletter and Darren does give you the opportunity to unsubscribe.

this is the problem.

yes, the newsletter is probably a good thing for some people

yes, he does give you the option to unsubscribe... to something you never subscribed to.

As far as i'm concerned, this newsletter is spam; I did not ask for it, I do not want it, I do not want to have to go through the pissing about to unsubscribe.

Get over it....
I'm getting totally fed up with moaning on this site relating to one company or another!
You complain about receiving unsolicited mail - delete it and get on with life. Has it affected your build? No.

Cheers

If you want, i could moan about the time it took a good few months to get a pair of Transit Ball Joints, and when i did, one was wrong, that affected my build.

But no, i'm not gonna moan about that, bygones. etc etc.

I do however take aversion to spam, and people who moan about someone moaning about something which is, I might add. illegal*, and could land a company in a lot of bother.

*The EU and UK have "anti spam" laws now, while this is a reasonably harmless case, it's not a good way to do business, IMO.

I am guessing darren generated a list from previous customers; ebay, play, amazon and so on do the same, no problem that I can see, no infrginement of the law as he provides a mechnism to unsubscribe. just my 2p..

Ned.

Very good point Ned.

However, I think there's a slight difference.

In that amazon, play, ebay etc. etc. all have a sign up process, and clear options to turn the mails on or off, which is final.

however, if i now went and ordered stuff from gts, I assume i'd get signed up to the newsletter again (especially given that i've changed email address.

Obviously nothing better to do than complain.

It could be worse it could be emails asking if you want P***s extensions or like wise.

Darren, please add me to your subscribe list. Lampysxtreme@btinternet.com.

Big cheers
Michael

Why does it so often seem like your banging your head against a brick wall. I have sent the newsletter to everyone in my address book. Therefore you are people who have contacted me or bought from me. Just asked to be removed and you won't get another newsletter.

Bob, if you give me your email address i'll send you the letter, so at least you can comment on it.

I can't see anything wrong with this. All companys (at least here in Sweden) use theirs address book to send out info about their offers and so on.

If Darren had used the address book here on Locostbuilders, it would be spam.

Spam or not, I think it's nice to get info about new products from GTS.

if you regard it as jusk mail, simply block it if you no longer want to recieve it.
if people complain about every spam mail they recieve, they would be at it 24/7!!

I'd have to agree with the majority here, I was more than happy to get a Newsletter from GTS, although I'm not quite sure why I got two copies. Maybe it's because I use several email addresses and Darren may have received email from two of my addresses in the past year or two.

I'd also hope that if anyone has an issue with a supplier they would contact that supplier and air their grievance before opening up the argument to the general public.

Anyway, on this occasion the newsletter pointed out that the headlights which GTS sell are now proven through SVA and this has prompted me to send Darren an order for nearly £250 worth of lighting and other bits. Hopefully that will make up for some of the negativity here and cheer the poor guy up! He must really wonder why he bothers at times, I know I would...

Cheers,
Craig.
