LT77 Reverse making strange noises
Took my Viento out for a little run yesterday for the first time. On private roads of course!!!! Everything went okay and it was quite nerve racking
at first. Everything went very well and all gears work as expected. Except reverse makes a rattley grinding noise when going over 2-3 mph. I have a
reasonably long drive (about 4 car lengths) so I notice when backing down it. The gear works fine, it doesn't jump out of gear but it makes a
slight rattle/grinding noise once going backwards. I have googled the issue extensively and there is not much information regarding duff reverse
gears. Taking the gearbox out involves taking the engine out so I am hoping I can leave it and see how long it lasts?
I will be going through IVA soon, will a noisy reverse affect the test? For all I know the reverse may be on its way out but I would quite like to
wait until winter to do a 'engine out' procedure'.
