No comments yet about their sva tests yet & it was 5 days ago, whats wrong with you all, come on get it off your chests

they had their own personal SVA inspector coming round once a week telling them what they needed to do to pass. How could they possibly fail?

The bit that made me hoot was when they claimed the police boys had a good understanding of the law and therefore knew the SVA rules inside out...
The SVA inspectors can't agree on the regulations and put out a united front!
As has been mentioned on here many times before those 'vehicles' would never pass.

And what was that b0llocks about 'the SVA test happens behind closed doors'. As far as I know it's a requirement that you stay with
the car throughout the whole test!

yes, but surely it's hardly convincing to the public to see the condition of some of those vehicles, and then see that they pass the sva
test.
Flipping hell, we are worried about the SVA with our 7's etc. and they are generally built to a standard on a different level to those items on
the programme, namely the beetle based thingy and the Carlton V8. It's a bit like me putting my grasser through the SVA test, it would fail on
just about everything!!
Can you imaging taking one of those vehicles to the test without "pre-approval" from the inspectors visits............surely they'd
laugh and point to the door!
Must say I quite like the Rangie-Ice-Cream-Van!!!

Why did the police carlton need to be SVAed? .If it was how come it passed with what appeared to be a propshaft tack welded to the axle flange?

If I ever have to do an SVA again I'm bringing a camera crew with me.
The sight of that lenghtened mini sagging visibly in the middle was a joke.
And to think I got failed in my Seven for the tab on my track rod ends showing

I couldn't believe it when it broke, then i saw the replay and spent the morning in the office ranting how crap it was!
I mean, if you where seriously going to weld it to the diff, you'd at least weld every spare millimeter in the hope it holds. Putting the
monster engine infront of it was just asking for trouble. Perhaps the deal with the TV is every car has to have a weak point to make it entertainnig
when it fails.
NS_Dev now you've mentioned about your grasser - when i watched the program i did think about bolting on two more chairs (left and right of the
driver) then entering that. We could get it through SVA nooooo problem!

yes Mike, I have considered that (well sort of!) myself!
Seriously, in many ways building a mid engined car is easier than a front engined. I thought about using a lot of the principles from the grasser, but
ditching the outriggers that retain the rear arms and widening the cockpit enough for 2 seats. The engineering involved would be pretty easy, and the
fwd engine and box will go stright in.
The tricky bit is the bodywork, but having looked at the ariel atom, maybe that's not too bad either!!
