Made a phone holder
I was looking for a good way to hold my phone in the kit car (for navigation purposes), couldn't find anything I liked, so ended up making my
own.
Used CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) to develop an idea and refined it before cutting metal. I used an offcut from my 2mm ali checker plate floor,
drilled small holes along the fold lines so it would fold nicely, added some "go faster" holes and made a separate mounting bracket.
I've yet to spray it with black VHT Crinkle Paint that I used on my cam cover with success. It's not adjustable, but I'll just make
another if I change my phone. It was a bit tricky to get the folds in the right place with thickness of the ali plate, so I experimented with some
offcuts to get it right. I really enjoy the design/making process of little things like this, it challenges my brain and satisfies my urge to make my
own stuff.
Some pics.... so how do you mount your phone in your locosts?

Like it
Do you have a USB power port (or maybe a power bank) to keep the phone charged whilst on the road?

Thanks lads, yes I've got 12V socket under the dash on passenger side, with a USB port. And I deliberately left the phone charging port clear so
I can plug a cable in. Not too bothered on the sharp edges, as I passed the SVA a while back.
and I never know it was called 5 bar tread. I've plenty left over to make some other gadgets too, what next?

Random fact, most generic phone holders use the same ball pivot mounting for the bit that holds the phone. I 3d printed the ball and then made a
bracket to hold the ball. Stole a generic holder that fitted my phone and now have a scuttle mounted phone just above my gauges and below the screen.
