Help!!! Can't get all 4 cylinders to fire...
Right,
Zetec; Wasted Spark; Emerald EFI
I've got 3 and 4 firing all the time now, so have a decent inline 2 engine.
When I rev above about 2000rpm, #2 kicks in, too
#1 stays cold.
So far...
1) Not injectors - proven
2) Not plugs - swapped around, and tried some new ones
Any ideas? Coil not quite up to scratch? Leads (new Bosch ones fitted atm)?
This is really weird as 1, 2 and 4 were all working the other day, and 3 wasn't....tracked that down to injector not firing; injectors since
changed.
Getting really frustrated as this is all that's stopping me from getting an MOT

Hi i,m running a 2 litre zetec on emerald management too, but in a MK1 Fiesta hillclimber.
Have you tried squirting some easy start into the miss firing cylinders with the engine running?
If it momentarely cures the miss fire then you know its fuel if not then its spark.

Good idea - didn't think of this; will get some in the morning.
Pretty sure it's not fuel, though as we removed the rail and let the injectors spray into the atmosphere....all seemed to be firing equally.
Out of interest, what advance are you running for idle? (any chance I can pilfer a look at your map?)
Thx
Stephen

current set up, but i'll download the map from the ecu tomorrow and check.

Unlikely but the first thing to check would be that 1 & 2 plug leads aren't swapped over.
Another suspect would be Sticking/bent valves tor hydraulic tappets pumping up ?

mhhh take the lead of
and put another (known good) sparkplug in it that way you know if it sparks....
if it sparks and also injects...then it could be question of timing....
how does the engine exhaust gasses smell??
fireing order right?? sensor angle right??
leads to the edis in good condition??
Should be easy tu cure...
Tks

Got the car started on all 4 now - putting it down to dodgy Crank Sensor lead and butterflies on 1/2 letting too much air in.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
