Ford 2.9i v6 engine

Hi Guys

I am moving forward with the fitting of a V6 in to a locost chasses.

Can any one who has done it please advise whether the 2 seperate exhusts need to have a "balance Pipe" between them.

Thanks in advance

Dave

they never did on the sierra - I have a 2.9 4x4 now. They do join right at the back of the car on the sierra, but that makes no odds. They were seperate all the way to the back on the Capris with the 2.8's in (had one of those too!, I love Ford v6's, just not ina lightweight locost!!)

Yeah but hopefully not for long- I'm trying to get him to go for that v8!

Davepro,

if you look at http://www.locostbuilder.co.uk you'll see that the off/side manifold is rather odd so you may have to do your own manifolds.

HTH,
James

I'm trying to find things to sell so I can James!

No need for a balance pipe AFAIK

If I buy the V8 I'll have a complete Ford 2.8 (ex-XR4x4), with RWD gearbox, clutch, carb, inlet etc for sale as a package. Can be heard running! u2u me if it's of any interest

pipes

I have a 2.9 v6 in a locost, I have used the standard manifilds and made custom downpipes. there is no crossover and it works fine. My only comment is that with very short pipes and very little back pressure you get poping and banging on overrun, wich in I think sounds good and is a bonus.

One thing I will say from my XR4x4 experiance is that for some reason the 2.9 v6 seems to always be fiercely loud!!!!

I briefly ran my sierra with no exhaust system, just the downpipes, when I ripped the system to pieces on a rough track, and the energy from the downpipes shoock the whole car violently!!!

I have an ashley system on it now (cheap!) and the noise is intolerable!!!!!
