Enlarging Images

As you might be able 2guess from the time this is posted, its doing my head in trying2 enlarge an image in "Adobe Photoshop C62".

I'm trying to enlarge a small logo little bigger than a thumbnail, into an image that'll go on the chest of a T-shirt but i'm getting massive problems with bluring round the edeges of the round logo and it looks out of shape if you try and colour the pixels in.

I've had a quick play with the sharpening and noise settings etc but am new to the program,

Any tips, suggestions or quick fixes?

Many thanks, Ian

You will get jaggies whatever you do... however best way to do it is...

Go to Image/Image Size

Straight to Resolution
- increase resolution from 72 to say 600dpi or more.

Then increase pixel dimesions.

That will give you the best results before applying filters and the like.

I agree with Hellfire, some small images just do not contain enough detail to be able to enlarge them. When you reach that limit, they just go blocky. If its a simple image, use it as a guide in Corel Trace, then enlarge to the right size.

If the image is a .jpg, try saving it as a .gif and then resize.

Andy,
not questioning your knowledge, but can you explain to me why that would make any difference when resizing?

Ned.

Well gif's are different as they are only 256 colours so when you make the image bigger they should just give you a larger version of the original image

Example:

Original:

Image deleted by owner

Enlarged verion:

Image deleted by owner

I guess it also depends on what the image is but it should get rid of the bluring.

By the way, do you like my new avater?

no need to switch formats to get that effect Donut, just change the resampling mode from 'Bicubic' to 'nearest neighbour' in the resize options.
