Not sure if this is the right place to post but anyway here goes. How hard would it be to set up some sort of database that any of us could contribute
to, that contained info on specific parts. For example i'm in the process of trying to obtain driveshaft boot kits, and its rather frustrating,
not to mention expensive, because there are at least 3 different drive shafts used on sierras
and without a specific year/model/part number to quote the nice man at Ford, you have a 3-1 chance of getting the right part.
So imagine having a database containing all the right numbers, but which also included specific sizes and details of the part. That way say you bought
something like driveshafts off ebay and you didn't have a clue what model sierra they were off, you could cross refernce the diameter and number
of splines against the database and find out which info you needed to quote to get spares. Of course this could be extended to cover anything, diff
ratios, weights, thread sizes etc. Just an idea, is there any mileage in it?

sticky threads in each section, detailed faq pages and wiki's have been mentioned in the past, but nothing seems to have gotten off the ground
so far sadly...

With a bit of help on specifics (what members can add/alter/etc) i'd be willing to write a site up with such a database. Haven't got the
time for it now, but if there's enough support, i think this would be a great idea too .
