build 1 from where some 1 left off & go through SVA or buy 1 that passed many years ago & rebuild??

i would love to know what people think about this 1.... i want to build a Amazing kit car this summer but i do not want to spend £££ getting it throught a test so i was thinking of either buy one that has passed Many years ago & re-build.
or go through the pain of theTEST!!!

If you can find a recent one that's already how you want it, buy it. Otherwise if you really want to re-build something I wouldn't bother. I'd just build one from scratch. That way it'll be precisely as you want it to be, rather than working around someone else's chassis for example.

If they are your only two options then it has to be the following

Finish building it yourself and put it through SVA. It ain't that expensive in comparison to your build budget.

is the test as hard as every one makes out?

because SO many people give up before the test.

I think you will find most people give up due to other commitments (family, work, money, house etc) rather than because they are worried about a glorified MOT

The test is a doddle....
You present your car....
You fail....(generally)
You get a list of whats wrong and they tell you how to put it right....
You go home and put it right...
You take it back for re-test and you pass...(generally)
SIMPLE.

Everyone worries about it before they go and after they come back they say they don't know why they worried.

Buying one that's half built can either be a good idea or a bad idea. It really depends how good it's been part built. If you're thinking of going down this route, be sure to look before you buy. Better still, take someone with you who knows what to look out for.

Do everything properly for the test and you can save yourself £30.
