My first silly question....

Hello All,

I think this is hopefully my first silly question, but how do you measure the fuel in a petrol tank like this..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&item=250033678578&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I.E. what fuel sender do you use if you use one at all...

Many thanks

We adapted the original sender using the bike float and stat... it works perfectly!

Otherwise using a wooden stick is a favourite locost alternative!!!

You can use any sender you want, as long as it doesn't get fouled by the baffles inside.

I've been recomended to use a tube type sender - haven't found one yet, but I'm sure someone will be along who can recomend one

There are no silly questions, only silly answers

I would try to use the sender from my donor car and cut another hole in the new tank to suit, making VERY sure that swarf doesn't fall inside.

You might have to experiment with the length of the arm attached to the sender and maybe bend it a bit.

Also, if you're doing any work on the tank, be very careful if it has been used before as highly- explosive petrol fumes linger.
