Handbrake cable routing-aaaaagh!

Having fitted b/plates,hubs,h/brake etc I have never been totally happy with routing of h/brake cable on mk indy as it seems to get in way of suspension and has some serious turning to do to go in front of backplate. So when i saw MKs black "drummed" Indy and saw cables entered through rear of b/plate i thought I would do the same.I assumed once the b/plates were swapped to accomodate cable fitting from behind I would have to swap some shoes but now find the shoes are not interchangeable without messing up all leading edges,I have had to swap h/brake lever from o/side to i/side of shoe and this lever appears to foul on plastic plunger.
Before i revert back to original route (ie take hubs ,b/plates all off for 2nd time is there no way this can be done successfully -er,without cutting off lining to give extra leading edges!!!

Mike,
Theres a picture of how I did mine in Cairb photos. Not had any problems despite the relatively tight initial radius. The drum back plates are standard way round. I used a shorter cable than standard and cut the inner to length. The part number was:
VECO Automotive - VJB064
Equivilent - BC2013, MBC1005,MBC6215
or at least thats what it said on the box. Each outer length was 760mm from memory, I think it was for a Cortina.
