Vauxhall to Type 9 Conversion

Doesn't really matter though does it?? seen as:
1 - ford used the same bolt pattern (certainly on the engines so I assume on the boxes as well)
2 - the type 9 is actually another box (can't remember the designation) with an overdrive for 5th
3 - Depending on your diff you may never use 5th anyway!

That gear lever doesnt look like a type 9 one..

but vauxhall used a torque tube so you would be changeing the whole drive charistics of the car, unless you weren't planning on putting this
into a vauxhall car but were going to use a GM engine in a locost now thats a different storey

But depending on which 4 speed box it is, it could matter as the gear lever is further back on the Type9 then some of the 4 speeds.

Don't see why people are getting their knickers in a twist with this one  It's a Type E (according to Burtons identification system) 4
speed gearbox probably from an RS2000 Escort. Very similar ratios to a type 9 but with only 4 forward gears and a crappy screw in gearstick like the
older 4 speeds

Hi it's the 4 speed box that is not a type 9 but an awful lot of people refer to as a type 9 usually found in 2ltr cortinas or some sierras.
The gear leaver looks like it could be a proper rose jointed quick shift item looking at the screw mount.
