One law for them- one for us?
Don't know if you've seen this but it does nothing to foster good plod/public relations.

"PC Timothy Dunning, from Thames Valley Police, left court this week after being acquitted of a single charge of dangerous driving. He has a
further trial for drink-driving to come." - I would imagine a drunk driver travelling at speeds up to 80mph to be pretty dangerous IMO!! Hmmmmm!

It has always been one law for them and another for us!
Anyone remember Princess Anne being done for speeding twice on the same day on the same stretch of road? Yes, you guessed it, not prosecuted.

Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Pewe - are you really so naive?
I used to respect the Police Force... lately, I have nothing but contempt for them. They have done nothing personally to me but all the 'let
offs' do absolutely nothing for public relations.
I have a Police HQ very near to where I live... even with the old "Blue's and Two's" people seem reluctant to allow them
access to the main road... I guess that gauges public opinion!

if they get off offenses its as much the CPS as themselves. There are balancing stories, like the chief constable who went to court to accept points
for being unable to identify which officer was responsible for the speeding incident.
I stand by my comments on the other thread, individual cops can be honest or less so, but if you dislike the law or its overall enforcement, blame
politicians or chief constables.
And there was nothing naive about pewe's comment, so i dont know where you got that one from....

Joel, you are spot on!
'Higher-ups' decide which cases get sent to the CPS, and then the CPS decide which cases go to court.
Then...there are the courts, who ultimately decide the sentencing (if any). They are nothing to do with the police, The courts take their directives
from the Home Office....... and there lies another story.....
