usb and megajolt.

My old laptop has gone tits up so mapping my megajolt is a problem now.

My megajolt is serial. What do i need to conenct it to usb?? Wil those serial to usb adaptors work?

Its easier to get a laptop with usb rather than serial now.

I think the general consensus is "mostly"... Some people have reported problems..... One option is to get a cheapo laptop just for work on the car- also means it doesn't matter if it gets covered in crud....

Maplins sell a converter that seems to work ok, but may be laptop dependent.I think the newer versions of the config software cause less problems with the USB converters.

Make sure that you've got the very latest MJ firmware & config software - currently v3.2.1 - Brent Picasso has put a lot of effort into fixing the problems with USB-serial converters in this release. He doesn't claim 100% success, but it's better than over 75% failure experienced with older versions! He's now got it up to 'almost all converters will work'.
