I used 4mm dia closed end rivets (stops the moisture getting in) and black PU sealant from Decorating Direct.

For the floor I used 4.8mm x16long wide head rivets bonded with black sikaflex. On my Indy they are at 60mm intervals and used 120 in total. 60mm seems like a good interval as the rivets naturally seem to end up at junctions of tubes.

For the sides I've used 5mm rivnuts spaced at generally 150mm so that the pannels are bolt on /off/

4.8mm large head ali rivets for floor.

3.2mm normal ali rivets on last car (was fine though).

Plain black silicone - the sealant only needs to stop vibration and water ingress if you are riveting as well so doesn't have to be expensive polyurethane stuff.

You may want to go the extra mile and mask around the tubes, use a thin 1/8" or so bead of sealant making circles around rivet holes and just trim with small radius rod whatever may have oozed out. after that, just remove masking tape.
You may leave it as is or paint over....

Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....
