vicki green - switched 12V supply when cranking

Hi,

I need to feed my megasquirt system with a 12V feed that supplies power whilst the engine is trying to start. I am using the Vickie Green loom and was thinking of using anyone of the switched circuit wires but was just wondering if these will be suitable?

Regards
Steve

There is a white/black and a white wire that is provided for various ignition systems. I believe one or both of these is a permanent live and would be suitable.

OK, thanks for that. When I re-read the instructions in the mega manual I realised that I thought they were refering to the switched 12V supply maintaining supply whilst in crank mode, but now I don't think they mean that. I know those two wires so I'll check them out.

The white to the coil positive is your boy. Why not use it as the ignition live switching feed to a relay which can then supply power to coil, mega unit, injectors and any other related bits. If you put a hidden switch in the earthing wire from this relay and tuck it under the dash, down the tunnel, under the seat or other cunning place scrotes will have to find it before they can start your car.
(The white/black slinks off to the dash for the rev counter and you probably want to connect this to the rev counter output on the mega.)
