rear hubs
i've just had new rear wheel bearings pressed into the hubs of my ex sierra 4x4 drivetrain ind fitted them to my chassis. Haynes manual says
they should be torqued to 180 lb/ft + but if i take them above 120 the bearings on both sides lock and i can no longer turn the hub. Any suggestions
on whats wrong/ what i can do about it.
cheers

R U sure they are 4x4 hubs, sounds to me like they are standard units.

in at local machine shop. something strange going on!

Are you sure you have the correct bearings? I had to replace one during my build and found ABS and non ABS parts are different (ABS being about 50%
more £££). Also need to check that outer races are seating correctly and that the spacer they sit against is not damaged leading them to be too far
apart and not allowing the inner races to come together.

Have you had the ABS bits on shaft ground down, mine wouldnt fit in hub carrier till i did this.
Just thought it might be pulling up as you tighten the hub nut and grinding to a halt.

yeat the abs rings have been machined. looks like i'll have to get them pressed out and checked- and yeah they were 50% dearer than the other
ones!

When i took out the bearings out of my hubs, they didnt need pushing out, once the seals had been prised out, the bearings just fell out, and i didnt
need to push them back in either, just the seals.
Am i doing something wrong?
P.S. I could do mine up to the max torque with no probs.
