Roll bar

Has anyone fitted a roll hoop orone of these? If they have, could you post some pics?

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Looks distinctly "cosmetic" to me - no where near sturdy enough to be of any use in an inadvertant invert situation.

The finish looks good though

IMHO if it hasn't got a tin-top with its inherent strength put a proper roll bar on it. Any open top kit car if inadvertently turned inverted will guarantee to kill you. Good looks will never make up for that

Ok. Where can i get one from? All the ones on the bay are quite expencive and the rear arms go down to the floor at the rear but that will pass right through my fuel tank

Unfortunately a roll bar without rear supports is barely better than no roll bar at all. The forces imparted on a bar by the forward momentum of the car if it digs into soft ground or catches on something are huge, and will easily bend or rip an unsupported roll bar off it's mountings.

Also bracing the bar to the rail that supports the rear bodywork is similarly ineffective better, this part of the chassis is not structural.

IMO no roll bar at all is better than an decorative one that could inspire false confidence.
