sometimes this site can be very slow to load, we've probably put too many pictures on it

people should show some restraint, like me.

Zooming along for me.....

But, I do know Bob is having mega problems .... but we think its his puter... which is wired

as he has no problems on the lappy.....which is wireless.

Fozzie

There are times when the site is slower to load......which is down to sheer volume of traffic accessing it at that particular time.....

I've noticed that some ads in the right top of the screen tend to slow the whole site, some don't even load at all resulting in very slow site

Remember that in the past only 4 or so different ads were published there, now it's a different one each time.

Looks like there are DNS issues. I can only access it from home, not from work. At work I can't nslookup the address at all. Guess my home ISP still has the address cached which is why it works from there.

I also have noticed that the site is very slow from tme to time, click on a page link or to post and sometimes it's very slow, and sometimes it's very quick

I had just assumed it was due to the vast number of viewers.

What you need to do is replace all that weedy wire from the telegraph pole with some 30 amp stuff, that will let more juice flow to the computer and your internet will be lighting fast. I’m sure BT use that tiny wire so you spend more time online waiting for things to download and they can charge you more

Just hit a go slow for me, even with my new turbo-nutter-b*stard laptop.

I find this is just about the slowest site I go on - it regularly `times out` while loading pages , and allways takes ages to load...... I know my computer is a bit slow , but I dont get the same anywhere else

Edit 0 exept Ebay , I have time to put the kettle on between pages on there

It's a DNS issue guys... bit too complicated to go into here, but it's causing a few more serious problems than just slow-downs on this site!

I'm working on fixing the root problem, rather than making changes on this site to work around it.

Phew

I was just about to throw the desktop out of the den window (again)

Couldnt work out why i could browse anywhere on the wired BB connection except LB, but no probs on the wireless connection from the same router.

Glad thats sorted although it sounds like a bit of a problem for chris

It's not always slow for me, but quite often (several times a day) I will be browsing away quite happily and it will suddenly grind to a halt. A page may take 30 seconds or a minute to load. This can go on for several minutes, then it'll start working again at normal speed.

This happens at work and at home, and it's been like it for a long time, a year or more maybe.

Another board I use can be quite badly affected by people using the search engine which chews up a lot of resources on the server, wonder if it's the same on here?

Well the DNS problem was fixed about 21:00 today. Caused some quite widespread problems, so it's been a stressful day for me.

Im interested in these other go-slow reports though, as the site is always very quick for me, except just after 4am when the backups run.

Perhaps this incident today will prompt me to sort out the site's DNS properly, which might solve them. It's a bit of a bodge at the moment!
