Toyota Alternator
I was trying to connect the alternator on my 4AGE twin cam last night and could not make sense of the Haynes manual. I think it's trying to say
that there are two different type of plugs (one round and one square) and depending on which one you have, I have the round one, you may or may not
need to use the external connection post, which is mounted on the outside of the case.
It's also not clear to me whether the drawings in the Haynes manual are looking into the end of the plug or into the socket - which makes a big
difference when you have three pins in a triangle formation.
If my interpretation is correct, that with the round connector you don't need to use the external lug, the implication is that one of the
standard spade connections needs to be rated at 100A - which doesn't feel right.
Can anyone shine any light on this?
Thanks

Thanks guys.
The alternator is a bit like the 2nd and 3rd drawings from the Wetsy, above, and I guess the wiring is the same, I just don't know which pin is
which and whether to use the both connections to the battery.
Rob, I have the Haynes manual, but it's I'ts not that clear. If you have a Toyota drawing a copy would really be appreciated.
By the way do you know if it's still possible to get the connector plugs from Toyota or is a scrappy my best option?
Many thanks.

Here is a general pdf on toyota charging systems, so should give you a good idea of where things should be as toyota alternators are all very similar
(they changed the shape of the plug to oval later on)
