long shot - heated seats in tin top not warming

volvo 850 estate with heated seats, or used to have

the lamps light up when the switch is pressed but no heat. same on both front seats.

looked for fuse but does not appear to be one in main fuse box; guessing there may be an inline fuse as there is lots of wires under the seat?

^^^ you can see I've not done a lot of investigating but posting on a long shot that someone may have had similar problem before I start ripping stuff out!

I would start by checking the relay followed by the switch. I had a similar problem on an Audi and it turned out to be the relay - replacing it solved the problem although yours might just be loose and reseating it may solve it.

You haven't accidentally knocked the "Big Girls Blouse" button to the OFF positions have you...?

I don't think the BGB was fitted to the T5 model but will check.

IIRC you'll see it next to the BBC Radio 4 knob in the middle of the dash, just above the Werthers dispenser

I have only one warming seat in my Volvo 850.

So what was the problem?

I've only just changed from 13 years in a 12 seater Landrover to the luxury cars.

I am still finding it difficult. I miss the draughts, the rain dripping on my right knee, and not needing to wear ear defenders over 60mph.

So what should I be looking for in a non warming seat?

I must admit its worrying, as if I fart and I have a broken element in the seat it may ignite the gas... Damn!! thats getting scary now!

My old 940 had a small unit under the seat which burnt out, seem to remember it being a type of relay/thermostat. Power was going in, hence switch light on, nothing coming out so cold arse.
