Attaching BEC prop - questions
1. How did people fix the prop adaptor to the bike engine? From my Haynes manual, I need to torque to 130Nm, but I was wondering whether people put
the engine in gear to tighten, or did you make up a locking tool?
2. How did you lock the sprocket nut (Typical, it's 36mm when my socket set goes up to 32mm....)? The bike uses locking tabs, but I don't
have the clearance to get the bike locking washer inside the prop adaptor.... I was thinking of making a smaller locking washer, and/or a good old
blob of threadlock.
3. Anyone know the thread/size of the escort axle prop bolts? Does UNF 5/16" x 1" set screw sound correct?
Many thanks.

I simply bolted an angle across two adjacent flange holes, with clearance cut for the socket. Simply wedged up against the top chassis tube, nut
torqued.
To get the sprocket off the bike in the 1st place, I welded a length of angle to the sprocket (quickly, so as to not cook the oil seal).

I'm not very keen on the idea of torquing something up against the engine in gear I'd rather hold it with a tool as the last poster
suggested.
As for getting the sprocket nut undone in the first place an impact wrench works well

I have no sprocket to undo, simply an adaptor/nut to put on and tighten. I will look at making up a suitable tool with a bit of angle or similar....
I'm still unsure as to how others have locked this nut - threadlock? Locking washer? Wired?

To lock I used the original washer / tab that folds up to lock the nut, just like the original install on the bike.

I haven't gone out of way to lock the nut.... it hasn't gone walkabout on any of the GSXRs. I know others have had problems, but I
haven't.
Now, the flange nuts on the Chocolate reverse Box are a different story, but it's the splines that are the issue there..
