wanted: a different reverse gear for electric reverse

We have a kit we aquired for electric reverse but the big gear in the prop fouls a water pipe clip, are there people out there that have these sorts of things in stock?

the ring gear is often a modified engine part but if I was you I'd just move the clip!! You usually have to get the ring gear machined and drilled to suit the new use you are putting it to and that means some seriously hefty machinery. My brother had to get a ring gear machined for his home brew reverse mech and the first machine shop that tried to machine it managed to break their industrial lathe trying to do so.....
IE no to off the shelf parts

I've been looking into this at the moment. Chap at work in our machine shop appeared with a catalog for this firm.

I was trying to match a ring gear to a ZX9 starter which turned out to be an odd tooth pitch so was expensive. But they do a huge range of DP and sizes. Seemed happy to take a on an odd job though as long as they had the tooling to cut. Worth a call.

Am now off to the scrappy to find a smallish car starter as need it to engage/disengage as the bike starter is always pre-engaged and thats not ideal.

I moved the chassis uprights at the rear of the tunnel to get some electric reverse stuff in, to have just moved a clip would have been a Godsend.
Breath deep and relocate?
