Personally, I'd remove all the identifying marks and plates from the donor vehicle and tell the people collecting it that you'll be keeping the V5 to register your kit car and it isn't part of the deal.

Pretty sure you need to do as Phil suggests - remove the VIN plate / grind off the VIN number etc. You will be needing the V5 so it needs to go onto a SORN declaration i believe, until you get your car built.

Rightly or wrongly, that's what have done. Cut off the VIN plate and drilled off the one under the bonnett. Told scrappy what I was doing who couldn't care less. I have SORN'ed the car. No problems so far.

Pete.

If you do anything other than that suggested by every one else , you wont legally have a doner !
The V5 is the bit of paper that proves you started with one , and will help supply the age related bit (if your going that way)

Its cuz I is blond , innit

I'm thinking cutting the rest up into small pieces, sticking them in the boot and dumping them in the metal section of the local tip, seeing as it's basically scrap metal and the locost is officially the donor
