scrapping the donor, what to do with v5?
Hi all, im having the donor taken away by a scrappy today, just wondering what to do with the v5, do i make them sign it or what? make them do the new
keeper name address block?

Personally, I'd remove all the identifying marks and plates from the donor vehicle and tell the people collecting it that you'll be
keeping the V5 to register your kit car and it isn't part of the deal.

Pretty sure you need to do as Phil suggests - remove the VIN plate / grind off the VIN number etc. You will be needing the V5 so it needs to go onto a
SORN declaration i believe, until you get your car built.

Keep it and register it SORN

Rightly or wrongly, that's what have done. Cut off the VIN plate and drilled off the one under the bonnett. Told scrappy what I was doing who
couldn't care less. I have SORN'ed the car. No problems so far.

If you do anything other than that suggested by every one else , you wont legally have a doner !
The V5 is the bit of paper that proves you started with one , and will help supply the age related bit (if your going that way)
Its cuz I is blond , innit

alritey thanks everyone, i have hacked out the chassis number under the drivers seat and already removed the front crossmember with the vin plate on
to get the engine out. oh and ive taken the number plates off as well, did i miss anything? thanks again for the advide

I'm thinking cutting the rest up into small pieces, sticking them in the boot and dumping them in the metal section of the local tip, seeing as
it's basically scrap metal and the locost is officially the donor
