engine advice
Hi,
Anyone know where i can get a timing chain tensioner for my 1600 x flow,also a flywheel.dose a 1.3 flywheel fit???
any advice would be great

I got my tensioner from Burton Engineering (together with loads of other engine bits...)

The site is rubbish for finding bits, but the catalogue is excellent and very informative.
As for the flywheel, try a scrapyard - rusted-up and seized engines are useless to a scrappie, so a flywheel should be cheap. You'll probably have to
get the face skimmed, though.

Thanks for the advice,just going to look at the site shortly.
The reason for asking about the flywheel was that i have a sierra 1.8 g/box and couldn't get a clutch to mate on the escort fly wheel so i used the
sierra one,as its bigger i had to drill the escort one to get it to fit.
I now found one at a local auto jumble that fits perfectly onto
the escort flywheel,but i don't no if i've ruined the old flywheel.

There is a trick to putting Sierra type 9 gearboxes onto Xflows... You need the Xflow flywheel and clutch cover plate, together with the
smaller-diameter Sierra clutch plate from an early 1300 model (I think...help, anyone?).
Burtons will sell you the clutch plate, and you should talk to them about a release bearing as well - you may need to change the one you've got.
As for the flywheel - have you got an engineering shop near you that does auto work? They can look at it, see if you've done any significant harm,
and do the rebalancing that's probably now needed.
Worth a talk, even if in the end you decide that a scrap one would be better value for money.

you're a top bloke,i only found this site today.I've been struggling with this for months.
I stay in Perth Scotland,there are a couple of engineering shops in town so I'll go along and get some advice

The clutch plate to use is from 1300 capri and 1300 and 1600 cortina from mk 3 onwards.Ihave just been through this problem and got one from a local
clutch centre for £17.50.
