Ending the Mondeo's life
Last weekend I bought my second donor car, a 1993 Mondeo. I will use the engine, wiring loom, ECU, etc. etc.
Today I started the disassembly. Since I have no experience with fuel injection cars, I am wondering what the parts are I have found:
 
Engine bay, as new
The cheapish toy-like-plastic box which has the sticker '1.8 115 bhp', mounted between the MAF and the inlet manifold/throttle body cover.
The 'pipe-section' of this box has a sensor inside. What is the function of the rest of the plastic box? It seems to be quite useless. What
does the sensor do?

And the shiny tubes attached to the exhaust manifold? The ends of the tubes, in the pic on the LH side seems to be open.

The box will be there to reduce the induction noise. The sensor is probably to measure the air temperature

No1 The sensor is the inlet air tempreture sensor.
No2 the pipes are are the pulse air injection system. This puts fresh air into the exhaust to help clean up the gasses.
This is a good link to explain all the bits and what they do. Link
The ecu will run the engine with out some bits but not others.

It seems to be a useful link indeed! This might help me to decide what to save and what to dispose of.
