If you really want to make them yourself, consider getting some 2" tubular steel. Drill the holes and then cut off the 4th side.
Also, for the trailing arms, make the front part out of a single piece rather than 2 that need to be placed vertically above each other.
1 last thing. Get your bushes first. Book is based on a set that you might not be able to get!
I'd go along with the other advice and buy.

Buy them, life's too short to mess about like that.

Have to say Merlin's work is top-noch, it really isn't worth making them. Tried and then bought my bushes and realised they wouldn't fit!

But like others have said get your bushes first, as I've now got to drill out my 8mm holes to 12mm to take the MK bushes, and they will also determine what wishbone end tubes you use, eh Merlin!!

Definately! The brackets from stock are 'by the book' - if you want anything different you must give me details, they are no more expensive but you don't want to have to drill out holes or grind pivot tubes!!

I reckon it would be cheaper, quicker and more cost effective for anybody who was that strapped for cash that they had to make their own suspension brackets by cutting the 4th side out of a piece of box to take a job as a paperboy until the cost of buying a set from Merlin had been covered.

Just another nod of agreement. If you buy only one thing pre-made for the car I'd say go for the brackets. Can't imagine having to make them myself by hand.... arghh!!

John, I picked up a set from Merlin on Saturday morning. I actually had enough tubular steel (2") to make them so cost would be zero however. . .
they are the exact size to match the RH supplied bush set
I know they are going to be 100% square
I know the holes are going to be opposite each other . . .
. . and he has done a very neat job, far better looking than I could ever do.

I'll let him give prices as my box of bits included some axle brackets.

First car, we bought the brackets in. Second car I made them. Don't bother with square section tube and cut one side off, you can buy 40mm wide strip from stockholders very cheaply. Simple steel block to hammer it around and you're done. Oh and a pillar drill helps get the holes parallel.
