Why aren't my hazards going off? Now sorted!
My hazards don't flash properly. Instead of going completely on/off repeatedly, they go bright/dimmer/bright/dimmer.
My indicators work just fine.
I have LED lights if that makes any difference, with an LED relay.
Hopefully I can get this sorted for SVA on wednesday!

First place to look i think would be a short circuit or bad earth?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Sorry, none of the above - its an MNR loom though if that helps.

I am trying to think about this logically - the indicators work fine, both sides.
As far as I know, the hazard switch ontop of the steering column just closes both the left and right indicator switch and completes both circuits?
The only difference is that there is a light inside the hazard switch. At the moment it is very dim. Could this be messing something up?
The earth on the flasher relay is fine, there don't seem to be any earths on the indicator side switchgear.

The hazard switch should be powered by a completely different circuit to the indicators, as it bypasses the ignition switch (it should work without
the ignition on). It sounds like you have a fault in that side of your circuit.....

The indicators take power from an ignition switched source and the hazards should run straight from the battery so they can be used without the key
in. Do they work when the key is removed completely ?

The hazards work when the ignition is off.
I am looking at the hazard switch and am going to clean up the insides of that side of the switchgear. Currently there is loads of gunk in there.
With the indicator flasher relay pulled out the lights are on, but do not flash.

Problem solved! :D
I took apart the switchgear, turns out the hazard bulb, although working, was the problem. The hazards work just fine without the bulb.
Now I need to find a red LED to fit in its place...
Yay!

Do you????? If you've got indicator bulbs / LEDs on the dash you don't need the hazard switch to flash on / off, you just need one
tell-tale...

Ruddy good shout - I thought since every tintop hazard switch flashes that I have seen, that mine must too! Saved me a beer token
