Who can supply +4" wider bodywork?

Hi,
I know the answer used to be GTS Tuning but are there any more suppliers of +4" bodywork these days? Ideally I am looking for +4" wider and either 1" or 2" taller to try to fit my RV8 lump without bonnet bulges. My chassis was built to McSorley 7+4 drawings.

Also, I would prefer to have the nosecone to bonnet flange horizontal rather than vertical as it is on my existing GTS Tuning bodywork. The vertical flange gets in the way of my distributor and requires me to raise the nosecone and bonnet profile which I have decided is just plain ugly...

Thanks,
Craig.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i think gts (darren) is the only place you will get +4 bodywork. I built a +4 mcsorley chassis and fitted gts bodywork, i have to say the quality of darrens work is very good. If you do decide to go for gts bodywork go and see darren in person, and dont pay him fully till the work is done.

Kilmarnock to Canterbury seems like a very long way to travel just because the guy can’t be trusted

Luego make larger bodywork, I don’t know the exact dimensions but it has to be worth calling them first.

My wife is very understanding, she understands that if I am in the garage I am not in the house annoying her.

I thought he had moved to Scotland... or is he back in Kent now?

Luego are in Scotland and they have a place in Hull, don't know about GTS moving to Scotland.

Craig, I went through this a couple of months back, and you're definitely stuck with GTS for an off the shelf product. Thankfully I had my +4 nosecone manufactured and delivered inside 10 days. I'm not massively happy with the quality however. The GRP is fine in itself, but shape is not symmetrical, so I'm going to have to spend some time modding it with filler/GRP to meet my exacting standards. Based on this, my advice is to mod what you already have.

I bought mine from GTS.

And apart from the 6-month wait (including bi-monthly/weekly phone calls chasing it ) all was well and it looks pretty good.
It's about 19mm taller than standard too which is handy with tall engines.

An alternative might be to speak to Mark (Triton) about building one for you and it was he that originally planned a +4" scuttle with me and Darren back when he worked for Darren.

He might even be pleased for an excuse to make a +4" buck if he doesn't have one already.

Another alternative for you might be to ask another manufacturer to make a custom for you... an easy way for them to do this would be to lay up half a scuttle in the mould with an extra 2" of GRP. Then lay up a separate other half of the scuttle with 2" extra GRP.

You could then join the 2 halves each of which has 2" extra GRP on it!

Hope that helps!

James
