Soda Blasting Kit
Anyone know who distributes soda blasting kits like Frost? They are out at the moment.
I had a website today in work but i can't find it now.

I've exprimented with the DIY version using tube I had lying around.
What I would say is try and build it inside a big plastic box and the choice of tube neds to be right - the tube I had was a little bigger and, well,
it worked but made a hell of a mess in a very short time (plus didn't clean anything as I think there was too little pressure in the large tube)

Anyone know if this will remove old paint from fibreglass? Might be a quicker option for my paint stripping, so that all i need to do is rub down to
smooth..??

Did you try soda blasting? I've got an Elan shell that needs doing and I'm tempted to buy some kit and try it myself.

I don't rate soda blasting.
I have to say I have not actually tried with "soda" but I have used crushed glass and sand that have been reused a few times until they
are talced and very fine.
Basically, there's no magic to it, whatever the purveyors of snake oil say, if it fetches paint off at an acceptable rate, it will slightly
distort panels, if it doesn't distort, it probably won't do much paint removal!!!
I have a pressure pot blaster built for a few quid using a CO2 bottle as the main vessel, and a tungsten carbide nozzle on a longth of blast hose,
with appropriate valves etc.
I have a 45cfm Hydrovane compressor which I use to power it, and its still BLOODY slow!! I would not even attempt to blast a wing with it.
I use it with steel shot for doing axles and subframes etc, which it is good at.
I have literally just sat down after having a shell blasted this morning by my mobile man, who uses crushed glass, and he is a great chap. I NEVER
blast the outside of a shell though, that is a recipe for disaster. A DA sander plus a stripping disc in the grinder will do the outer panels MUCH
quicker and MUCH better than a shoddy soda blaster.
I get my mobile chap to do the underside, under the wings and all the inside of the bodyshell (today was a porsche 356). He uses 160hp compressor and
it still takes a morning...............
a 3hp single phase compressor just ain't going to do it!!
I would save your money on this one, or if you can, come over and try mine if you want, and see what you think...............
